True Colors opened its doors on July 1, 2006. Previously operated under the name, New 2 You, the business shared space in a building with a doggy daycare and groomer. Owner Mickie Nakonechny recognized the potential for an upscale, well-organized resale shop in Grand Forks but realized the location was less than ideal. Her vision prevailed and in November, 2006 the business was moved to its current location in beautiful downtown Grand Forks.
In the fall of 2010, the space next to True Colors became available. The wall between the original store and the new space was opened up and True Colors doubled in size. To fill the new space Mickie closed her junior shop, indigo and moved that inventory to True Colors. She also brought in new lines of gifts, accessories and began accepting home decor and small furniture items. Currently, the boutique is a mix of new and used clothing, accessories, gifts and home decor.
Mickie Nakonechny is a leader in the resale community in Grand Forks. It is through her vision that True Colors has grown into the premier resale shop in the Red River Valley. She has built her business on the foundation of integrity, exceptional customer service, and common sense. Her commitment to recycling and the love of good quality clothes at bargain prices fuels her desire to provide a unique shopping experience for stylish women of all ages and sizes.
Silvia Sena is the Sales Floor Manager at True Colors. She brings that touch of class you see every day in our store. Silvia was born in El Salvador. Spanish is her first language so we lovingly tease her when her Spanish doesn't quite translate to English. We don't let her forget the time "fuzzy" sweater translated as "hairy" sweater!
Tiffany Brouillet has worked at the store since August 2008. She fills in on weekends when she isn't at school or working at her other job. Get Tiffany's opinion on an outfit; she will give you valuable and insightful feedback!
Lindsay Sannes joined the team in October, 2011. Her outgoing, upbeat, and joyful spirit is sure to put a smile on your face! Lindsay left us last fall to pursue a "real" career but you can still find her here on weekends and during special events. We love when she picks up a shift!!
Rachel Van Raden is the True Colors "sweetheart". Rachel is always wearing the cutest ensembles of belts, hats, and jewelry with her outfits. Stop in and have Rachel put an outfit together for you!
Alicia Larson joined us last fall. She works part time while going to school. She may be the youngest employee ever hired at True Colors, but she's one of the hardest working. Alicia is a little bit quiet at work, but in her spare time she's a little bit of a rocker!!!
